Anna Hazare accept offers Delhi Police to fast for 14 days

NEW DELHI: In a breakthrough night in the deadlock between Anna Hazare and the Delhi Police on the duration of their protest against corruption, Gandhi accepted the offer within 14 days after the hunger strike on Thursday Ramlila the Maidan.

"Anna has accepted the DP (Delhi Police), leave for two weeks (fast). Anna now is 15:00 Ramlila ground in the post," Hazare's assistant Kiran Bedi Twitter.

The breakthrough came after almost 30 minutes Hazare meeting assistants Bedi, Prashant Bhushan, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia had with the Delhi Police commissioner BK Gupta's residence in Chanakyapuri it shortly after midnight.

Bedi said the police commissioner gave permission for 14 days of protest 73 years of age Hazare in the Field of Ramlila, after which, along with Bhushan, and Kejriwal Sisodia returned to Tihar Jail, where the social activist has been staying put since his arrest and release on Tuesday to inform him of the offer.

Later, Bedi said on the micro-blogging site that the Delhi Police "to eliminate the unacceptable conditions and offers 15-day permit. Anna accepted there."

"Anna has accepted the DP for two weeks leave. Anna will now be in Ramlila 15:00 grd message," he said.

An announcement to this effect was also an associate Hazare outside Tihar Jail, which was greeted with lusty cheers by hundreds of followers of Gandhi.

"Anna has been won. We will contact Jan Lokpal Bill," one protester said.

Anna's team met with the Commissioner of Delhi Police a new initiative to end the stalemate in the duration of the protest of Gandhi by a strong Lokpal during which the police offered two weeks leave of the hunger strike.

While the Delhi Police had gone down and down almost all the conditions that had sought to impose in protest Hazare, the only point of friction between the two sides has been the duration of the hunger strike.

"We met with the police commissioner to help meet the deadlines," said Bedi.

Kejriwal, who was with Hazare in Tihar, even after his release, Bhushan, Sisodia Bedi and led from the prison, where he held a series of meetings with Hazare to meet with officials from the police.

However, Hazare, who continued his fast for a second day seemed to have other plans when he called Kiran Bedi, Manish Sisodia Prashant Bhushan and and discussed strategy.

Bedi came out and announced to the crowd that the consultations and that Hazare was not leaving anytime soon.
